Orion Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement (OCCRM)

Overview

The Orion Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement (OCCRM) traces its beginnings to a time when some young people in Orion were destroying religious images in their homes. This came to the attention of the parish priest, Fr. Willy Paguio.

A Life in the Spirit Seminar was held at the Cathedral of Balanga, where three leaders—Bro. Carling Manrique, Bro. Rufing Bautista, and Sis. Norma Galit—were sent to participate. Upon their return to the parish, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement was established on May 25, 1982.

Many people responded to the movement, filling both the church and the convent. Through the Charismatic Renewal, many leaders were formed and went on to serve in different parish ministries, including the Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Parish Pastoral Council, Liturgy, S.M.B.A., and other church organizations.

The community experienced the work of the Holy Spirit through the proclamation of the Good News, bringing couples into Catholic sacramental marriage, praying for the healing of the sick, and deliverance ministry. The movement also expanded into different barangays and even overseas, including Saudi Arabia and Diego Garcia, and contributed to the establishment of the Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul and mini-chapels in various barangays.

After 44 years of continuously building and strengthening the Christian community, OCCRM continues its mission with the guidance of its Council of Elders. Although many of its brothers and sisters have passed away, the community remains committed to answering the Lord's call with faith and through the guidance, action, and help of the Holy Spirit.
